It got me thinking………You know when little ones just start thinking about walking, they hold onto the edge of the table and eye-ball the couch thinking, “can I make it over there?” Then they make a decision and give it a go. The first eight to ten times they end up plopping right down on that cute little bottom.
Why is it…
when we grow older we “try” something and if we “plop” we say “this didn’t work for me” after just one, or maybe two times. We give up so easy, and it’s easy to give up and fall back into old patterns because some of the stuff we try IS hard!
Would you ever say this to a ten month old, “you’ve failed ten times now in trying to learn this walking thing so I think you should just accept it and give it up, you’ll never walk.” Holy cow, what a mean great-grandma!
We just completed our 10 Day Detox with the largest group I’ve ever had! Not everyone was in our private Facebook group, or if they were, not sharing their experience, but I did get a number of emails from participants. What I found fascinating is “watching” and “hearing” what the challenges where. Some dove in one hundred percent, some struggled with finding the suggested foods because they were so different from their normal foods, some where doing this for the third or fourth time!
I was thinking …
changing the foods we eat, the drinks we drink and our lifestyle patterns is one of the most difficult things we can tackle. I pondered this today when I was grocery shopping and looking in peoples grocery carts (always VERY interesting!) I know for me when I shop, I know my store, I know where most things are and I can get through a large grocery shopping pretty quickly. If all of a sudden someone said you need to change the foods you eat (even with a list of foods) it would take alot more time to find them so that alone is a reason to not want to change. Then add on top of that taste, preparation and new recipes and the brain goes into lock down!
This is why I love to see people take this 10 Day Detox two, three and four times, because I know the first time through can be challenging and you only capture and retain a few things the first time. Here is a quote from a detoxer that went through the program again…..
“I too am enjoying the process and results and for some reason this time even more than times past (and those were all good) it’s sinking in more this time.” Erica
Have you tried and tried to make lifestyle changes and failed again and again? Have you given up and figured “you’ll never walk?” I want to encourage you to be like my ten month old great-grandaughter and try again! It is the single biggest gift you can give yourself, good health.
Nothing is as important …
and I truly believe this, is as important as getting this working. I see clients every week who wish they would have paid attention earlier. Lost the weight, lowered the inflammation, got their blood sugars under control, got their digestion corrected, reduced their stress, improved sleep and more, but, by the time I see them we are trying to “fix” a decades old problem (or worse) that has now impacted their health so much it’s preventing them from living the life they envisioned.
Ten days doesn’t seem like much time but it’s enough time to learn a few tips, change a few foods and work on some lifestyle habits that are detrimental to your health. For some, it can be the “course correction” they have been waiting for!
What they got…
“I have always considered myself a “healthy” person in trying to eat right and exercise often. As my life has become more and more busy I’ve found myself relying on a lot of caffeine to keep going. I’ve wanted to kick coffee for a long time because I’ve always been a little coffee with my cream and sugar kinda girl. I was able to kick the sugar but found myself adding more cream. I’d also love to be mostly dairy and gluten free as I find that my body isn’t very happy with either.
Through this 10 day Detox, I have quit drinking coffee and haven’t had any gluten or dairy. I used to be a big snacker as well and have found myself not even wanting those. A piece or two of 70% dark chocolate has curbed any sugar cravings along with a few nuts.
I feel amazing!!! I’m not tired all the time. I’m sleeping better and my clothes are looser. I weighed this morning and only lost a few pounds but I can tell the inflammation and bloating has been greatly reduced!!
Thank you for sharing all you know with us to make this happen!!! I will incorporate so much of what I’ve learned into daily life from now on!!! ❤️” Tanya
Now, I don’t ask you to give up coffee during your 10 Days, (I don’t!) but this was something she knew in her heart that her body was telling her to do and she listened! Yes, ten days is enough time to lower inflammation, get rid of sugar cravings and change your taste buds to “want” clean, healthy foods.
for me, a core group wants to keep going so they are encouraging each other in the Facebook group and they are doing another ten days together! One of the participants has a “reverse psychology” and focus’s on eating clean and detoxing DURING the holiday’s so she always ends five pounds lighter instead of heavier in January, what a COOL idea!
I just had to share some of the success stories from our amazing group, I love celebrating with them!
“This has been amazing. I feel like I had a health coach in my home!” Diane
I want to encourage you, even if you have PLOPED DOWN ON YOUR BUTT numerous times, to get up again and try again!!
Our next class is January 13th, 2020!
I’m right alongside you my friend 🙂 you CAN do this!
