Cancer is a scary word. No one wants to hear “you have cancer.” Yet one in three men and one in five women will develop cancer in their lifetime.
As you read this, I’m out in California. I’m getting ready to head up the Northern California coast for five days of total un-plugged, rest and relaxation. This is a look off the deck of the house we will be staying at, spectacular!
The forecast is for rain, but no problem, I’ll hunker down with a good book, listening to the waves crashing on the rocks, and I’ll be just fine!
It’s THAT time of year, Flu shot signs everywhere!
I choose not to get the flu shot because according to the the Centers for Disease Control, most flu vaccines contain mercury in the form of thimerosal, some containing as much as 25mcg per dose – which is more than 250 times above the EPA’s safety limit.
But mercury is just one of the many dangerous substances found in the flu shot more including: aluminum, a neurotoxin, Triton X-100, a common detergent used in laboratories; phenol (carbolic acid): ethylene glycol or antifreeze; betapropiolactone, a disinfectant; nonoxynol, used to kill or stop growth of STD’s; and octoxinol 9, a vaginal spermicide!
I work SO hard to eat organic, fresh and non-toxic food, why would I put all that in my body (or my childs) ???
How Do They Determine the Flu Shot?
There are two types of vaccines, Therapeutic (cancer, metabolic disorders, chronic illnesses, and infectious diseases), and Preventable human vaccines markets (pediatric vaccinations, flu shots) that are estimated to reach $55 billion worldwide! Vaccines are BIG business, and that is important to understand.
No doubtedly you have heard the “grim” news about this years flu, H3N2. Have you noticed how every year there are dire warnings to get your flu shot? There are 16 different types of HA and 9 different types of NA, therefore, there are potentially 144 different subtypes of influenza A viruses. Among them, two subtypes of influenza A, H1N1 and H3N2 are the most common ones that infect humans.
Each year the FDA meets to determine which strains will go into the vaccine based on recommendations from the World Health Organization. Sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong. In an interview with CNBC, John Shiver, global head of research and development at Sanofi Pasteur, which produces the bulk of flu vaccines in the U.S. stated: “There’s a lot of good methodology, but it’s not foolproof, so some years are better than others.” [Read more…] about Why I Don’t Get the Flu Shot
What is on YOUR bucket list? Do you have a trip someplace amazing on your list? Have you written it down and do you review your desired goal often or do you just “wish” your dream will come true? I want to challenge you to dream big, write it down, make a plan and go for it!
I had a goal…
of going on an Alaskan cruise and that goal had been on my bucket list for at least five years. Unfortunately my husband was hesitant to take a cruise, doesn’t like to be around lot’s of people, so I wasn’t sure how it was going to happen. It is also a chunk of change to take an Alaskan cruise, especially if you want a balcony room.
of this year we were with our best friends and got talking about taking a trip together. My friend Sandy was all for an Alaskan cruise but her husband also was leary of being on a crowded ship for seven days. We decided to explore the possibility (to come up with good ammo!) and I contacted a friend that was a travel agent and told her our concerns. She and I talked, discussed a smaller cruise ship that only holds 1,200 and planning way in advance so we could save up. Guess what? The guys went for it!!
Let me tell you, it was everything and more than we dreamed of. The ship, Holland America
School is back in for most of the country and you know what that means, right? Those sweet little people love to share cold and flu bugs! Even if you no longer have children at home their friends and family surround you every day at work, in the grocery store, at church or any place there are people!
If you have followed me…
If you have followed me for awhile you know I’m not a fan of the flu shot unless you are severely immune compromised. We have a wonderful immune system that is up to the task of mounting an attack on incoming virus’s IF we give it the tools it needs.
This is a great time of the year to start on an immune building program and keep it up through the winter months. Yes, I do like supplements for this (and we use them) but let’s first look at what foods will build that immune system and start to incorporate them into your weekly shopping list.

It was 2006 and I was 55 years old when I started having “aging” symptoms, poor sleep patterns, afternoon “I want to take a nap at 4pm” energy slump, low sex drive, brain fog, unable to cope with a full schedule, aging spots on skin and a general feeling that something had shifted in my metabolism. So I set out to find out why……
Are you older than you were yesterday? You may think that’s a crazy question but you don’t have to be “biologically” older tomorrow, next month or next year and you don’t have to age like the average person, if you know about this ONE thing….
The average lifespan of an American today is, men 76.4 years and women 81.2 years old. But, there is a BIG difference between “lifespan” and “health-span”. We can live a long time confined to our homes, an [Read more…] about How this one thing changed my aging path……
