There are many blogs, books, and Facebook groups that talk about getting into an “alkaline” state for optimal health. But is that really true? Should our bodies be in an alkaline state? 70% of your body is water. If you were to extract all the water, what would be left? Primarily minerals, minerals are alkaline.
We’ve all heard, “boost your immune system” during the cold and flu season! I too have been a big believer in amping up certain nutrients before we head into the cold and flu season. But, did you know with this current environment, it could backfire on you?
The first randomized controlled trial of vitamin D in COVID-19 has just been published. The results are astounding: vitamin D nearly abolished the odds of requiring treatment in ICU. Although the number of deaths was too small to say for sure, vitamin D may actually abolish the risk of death from COVID-19.
I think I speak for most of us, I love a good dessert! As we head into fall, and hopefully cooler temperatures, I like to bake more. Since we are gluten-free, this has required experimenting with many recipes, and honestly, I wonder sometimes if anyone has taste-tested some of these I’ve tried! It’s taken quite a few desserts “flops” to find the ones that are keepers.
We have been traveling for three weeks in Oregon and California, visiting family and good friends. We obviously have been exposed to more people than normal staying in motels and eating (outside) at restaurants. Once reaching our destinations we stayed around our friends and family and enjoyed outdoor activities. But, masks were mandatory everywhere we went.
