Does this hit home? When I talk to men and women this is usually the #1 complaint “how do I get rid of belly fat?”. Is there a magic bullet? Are there “5 easy steps”? Are there “3 foods that burn belly fat?”
We have heard and seen it all on the internet so let’s get real and discuss the truth about belly fat!
When we start to store fat in the stomach area we are in a state of “insulin resistance”. This is when the body is no longer efficient at storing and burning sugar from our food. We become “resistant” to the insulin carrying the sugar into the cell. Insulin is the “key” and the cell has a “lock” on it. When we become resistant the cell changes the lock and now the key doesn’t work!! So what does the body do? It makes a FAT cell in the BELLY to put the sugar in!
So what’s the answer? There are actually quite a few solutions so let’s look at a couple.
- Reduce the sugar in the diet. That means sugary drinks, sweet treats, grain carbs like bread, pasta, rice, tortillas etc. The ideal and fastest way to do this is go Paleo or Keto for your food choices.
- Intermittent fasting is another “trick” to get the body to empty out some of that stored sugar. It looks like this…..Breakfast at 10am, lunch at 1pm and dinner by 6pm.
